What to avoid and what to bet to balance the silhouette?
When you're petite you usually want to lengthen your silhouette.
I'm not here to set rules, you can use whatever you like, but if you want to create an illusion of a longer silhouette or don't want to get flattened in any combinations, it's worth to give some thoughts for these following tips.
vertical and thin stripes (as they create an optical effect that lengthens the silhouette);
long necklaces, but without too much going on;
monochromatic outfits or similar color looks;
skirts and dresses above knee length;
shoes that show the toe of your foot (no need to climb in a 15 heel, but showing off this part of the foot already helps to stretch)
shoulder bags small and with long straps, but without reaching to the knee, please lol;
medium or short hair, because short women with 'long hair' look even smaller than they're;
But if you don't give up of having long hair, give it a shorter balanced layer on the front;
V-neck dress and blouses necklines help elongate
-Very large prints;
-Horizontal stripes (I have dressed in horizontal stripes and I have no problem wearing, but when I want to elongate use verticals lines instead);
-Very contrasting colors between top and bottom;
-Excessive frills and overlays;
Can I wear_______being a petite woman?
You can use anything you want without fear!
It's not because you're petite that you'll have a wardrobe restricted to a handful of predefined pieces. That is not the definition of being stylish, stylish is wearing clothes that represent you, makes you feel confident and comfortable wearing!
Use style tricks to help you when you know you're not wearing something that is the best for your height...Have fun with optical illusions! Optical illusions are applied in architecture, art and fashion couldn't be different.
I love to play with these style tricks with my clients, but don't get stuck with rules because if you like a striped blouse, for example, don't let that stop you from taking it home just because the stripes are not vertical.
There will always be a style trick for you to use, and if NOT who said you have to elongate your silhouette every day!
